Bathe in the local Audresselloise tradition.
Not to be missed every year during Pentecost weekend: the Crab festival. Activities and entertainment on the theme of the flobart fishing boat and the sea, maritime craft stands, street painters, open-air concerts of marine songs and maritime folklore, seafood tasting (grilled herrings, fish soup and crab), all in the village square with a procession of majorettes.
Absorb the emotion in Audresselles on 15 August with the outstanding Vierge des Flots (Virgin of the Waves) procession
- The festival of the Assumption is the main municipal festival in Audresselles.
- The mass begins at 3.00 pm.
- Even if it rains, the procession follows the mass and goes as far as the mouth of the river Manchue for the blessing of the sea and of seafarers. It includes the officiating priest – the parish priest himself – and the mayor, the altar servers, the bearers of the statue of the Virgin, the banner bearers, the ladies of the sea with their traditional kichenotte or sun headdresses, the sailors, the fishing captains who take the priest and the mayor out to sea on their boat to bless the waves and throw a wheat sheaf – the fruit of the work of men – into the water.
- A cortège of boats decorated and covered with flags then follows, mounted on carts drawn by tractors.
A firework display, which is usually part of the Bastille Day celebrations, is also scheduled at 10.00 pm on 14 August, weather permitting.
